SSA BECOMES AN IMarEST MARINE PARTNER
The Shipbuilders and Shiprepairers Association (SSA) is the most recent member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology’s (IMarEST) rapidly expanding Marine Partners initiative. This partnership programme has over 30 member organisations, works on building relationships with marine and offshore organisations, offering a customised package for each Marine Partner.
“As a Marine Partner, we will be working closely with IMarEST and promoting the Institute to graduates and young engineers,” explains SSA’s Director, Mike Albans-Jackson. The SSA represents UK companies engaged in building ships of all sizes, converting them for other uses, repairing & maintaining them and ultimately in disposing of them, it currently has 115 members and is growing rapidly. SSA represents some 80% of all UK shipyards and ship repairers; and also has a strong Tier 1 equipment suppliers’ membership. ”We are very much the voice of the UK ship repair industry in the UK and links to Europe, so the international reach of the IMarEST is of great relevance to us,” adds Mr Albans-Jackson.
“This new affiliation with the SSA is a true win:win relationship for both organisations,” says Keith Read CBE, the Chief Executive of IMarEST. “We look forward to meeting the engineers, scientists and technicians working for SSA member companies; and in return will be introducing young SSA members to our Young Members’ Network; and helping members of all ages benefit from our Branch activities and continual professional development programmes.”
Further information on the Marine Partners programme and its wide range of opportunities that can be tailored to each organisation's specific requirements are available from the IMarEST website at www.imarest.org from Samantha Dawkins, Corporate Relations Executive, at IMarEST Samantha.dawkins@imarest.org
